Ipswich Town excited about new Barenbrug Seed Varieties

Ipswich Town Football Club has been using Barenbrug seed varieties for five years. The stadium pitch is difficult to manage, admits Grounds Manager Ben Connell, with a 1970s construction base in the shade of the 30,000 seater stands.

“We like to use Barenbrug because they are a seed breeder,” he says. “They’re able to develop the grass seeds, and we’re able to work with them. We’re excited about the three new varieties coming up for the season that are absolutely top of the table. We want to see that in our pitch”.

With the reduction in chemical applications, Ben appreciates the importance of greater disease resistance in grass varieties as well as better drought resistance - “that’s going to help us in the future”.
