Barlennium has a deep, dark leaf colour and is the best choice for use in mild continental climate areas due to its longer winter growth and tolerance to winter kill. Barlennium mainly distinguishes itself from other perennials by its high tolerance to salt water (irrigation). Combined with a fairly good tolerance to drought the variety can be used as well in more cool Mediterranean areas. This variety is perfectly suited for use in mainly sports turf situations, blending extremely well with sports turf species such as Poa pratensis (with its darker colour). In a mixture, Barlennium will guarantee fast establishment, a dense, wear-tolerant turf and a good salt tolerance.
Application
Barlennium is a sports-type perennial as it is suitable for use under particularly saline conditions for:
- Sports and cricket grounds
- Football and rugby pitches
- Landscaping areas
- Golf fairways
Colour
Dark-green leaves, comparable to the colour of Pinnacle II and Barblack. However, BARBLACK is a bit lighter than these varieties.
Partner varieties in mixtures
Barlennium was extensively tested at Barenbrug Research in Wolfheze, Mas Grenier (France) and Vicenza (Italy) and at STRI.
