Faster early establishment, competing well with perennial ryegrass in a mixture with strong rhizome production useful for recovery. Good shade tolerance. It does not tolerate close mowing and has lower shoot density and poorer disease tolerance than either Chewings or slender creeping red fescues. Used in mixtures for uplands and less favourable areas to provide high density base to a sward.
